Weingut Hans Igler
The HANS-IGLER winery has been ensuring a wine culture of the highest level for many years. The foundation was laid by Hans IGELER, who went down in history as a pioneer of red wine production in Austria. Following in his footsteps are Waltraud and Wolfgang Reisner-IGLER, who recently made headlines with their flagship cuvée "Ab Ericio" (Latin for porcupine). The 40 hectares of vineyards of the HANS-IGLER winery are located in the best vineyards of Deutschkreutz, in the heart of the central red wine region of Burgenland, the Blaufränkischland. The sandy and stony loam soils of Pannonia and the moderate climate allow for the cultivation of fine red wines and full-bodied white wines. In addition to the white Burgundy varieties Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, Waltraud Reisner-IGLER and Wolfgang Reisner have specialized primarily in red wines – most notably the region's signature Blaufränkisch, as well as Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and recently Merlot.
