PISCHINGER

The history of the company Pischinger

The Pischinger products (especially almond and hazelnut pieces) belong to the top sellers in the AustrianSupermarket.com assortment. Their secret is the production according to the tradition of generations.

The wafers specialist Pischinger was founded 1849 in vienna and looks back to a distinguished history of 160 years.
In 1881 the „Original Pischinger Torte“ was created. About 40 years later the company was parted into two branches an austrian and a german one.

In 1980 both branches were reunited with the integration in the company “Victor Schmidt & Söhne”.
In 1994 Stefan Gaudernak, director of the company for many years, took over Pischinger and 5 years later he achieved a sensationell success after the ISM in Cologne: an important order from Walmart USA.
In 2003 the Pischinger Cakes were cut into “Ecken”, bite-sized wafer pieces, and so the entry in the food retailing market increased and at the same time Pischinger opened two own outlets called “United Chocolates” in the Inner City of Vienna.
On January 1st 2006 the brothers Walter and Andreas Heindl took over this traditional austrian enterprise. Under their leadership a corporate identity was developed and furthermore a relaunch of design and packaging. The two shops were changed to the well known design of the “Confiserie Heindl” shops.
Along with new products and the new attractive and characteristic design, came a better value of the brand and its recognition, which is important for the loyalty of the costumers and so the sale increased up to 69 %. The popular “Ecken” are austrian wide listed in the Rewe- and Spar-Group as well as in Zielpunkt, Meinl and many other sweets and speciality stores. They all count on the supreme quality of this traditional products.
The latest innovation of the “Heindl brothers” are the Pischinger “Schoko Maroni“, which, as soon as they were created, won the “emballissimo“ an award for the best packaging design. They also proved to be a bestseller in export, that`s why they are now available in 4(!) different sizes.
